Douglas Robert Bristol

Douglas R. Bristol of Fairbury died unexpectedly on July 4 in York County, NE. Doug was born March 31,1958, to Milton Fredrick and Betty June (Morris) Bristol of Waco, Nebraska.  He attended Waco Public School and Centennial Public School, graduating in 1976. He also attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln, earning his professional truck driver degree. At the time of his death, Doug was a business owner of Dirty Biz Laundromat in Fairbury.

In 2002,  Doug was married to Donna Paulsen. They lived in Eagle and were later divorced.

Doug served with the Nebraska Army National Guard, Company C of York Nebraska from 1975 to 1982.

His passion was with the American Legion Riders, American Legion,  ABATE district #7 of Nebraska, and the many charities he was involved in.  We will remember Doug for his sense of humor, generosity, and strong love and loyalty for God, family, friends, and country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law; Morris and Marsha(Long) Bristol, sister-in-law Mary Beth (Harrison)(Bristol) Oborny, and nephew-in-law Seth Johnson.

He is survived by sisters, Mary Bristol of Waco, and Lydia (Dave) Stuehm of Wilcox, special friend Sylvia Cloyd of Fairbury; nieces and nephews Christina (Nate) Payne and Samuel, Cora, Sarah, Leah, Ava, and Mara of Utica; Mary Johnson and Kaleb, Kip, Kolt, and Parker of Upland; Laurel (Joey) Thorell and Bristol, Barrett, Marley, and McCoy of Axtell; Kimberly(Dan) Buchheit and Kurtis and Kallie of Chadron; Christian(Daniell) Stuehm and Marissa, Mataley, Adalynn, and Corbyn of Hildreth; Robert Stuehm of Hildreth, and Jennifer(Nick) Haiar and Lily and Jameson of Papillion. He will also be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Services will be Monday, July 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Burial will be in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery 2202 Road 12, Waco, NE.
