Duane Lyle Raney

Duane Lyle Raney, 84 of Alexandria, NE (formerly of Osborne, KS) passed away September 12, 2021, at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury, NE. Duane grew up on a farm in Osborne County Kansas and completed grades 1 through 12 in the Osborne School System.

Duane enlisted in the United States Army in 1955 and was stationed in France, Switzerland and in the U.S. In 1957, Duane left the Army and had four children: David Lynn, Connie Joanne, Tammy Dee, and Kevin Duane.

On April 22, 1972, Duane was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Lincoln, NE. He was united in marriage to Melvina Pickett on August 5, 1972, and together they resided in Nebraska. Mel had one son, Patrick Delroy Boley.

Duane loved family gatherings, spending time with his family, and drinking coffee with the boys.

Duane is survived by his wife, Melvina; four children, Patrick (Sandy) Boley, David (Linda) Raney, Connie (Leland) Ward, Tammy (David) Gabel; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Flavion and Violet (Trexler) Raney; brother, Dean Raney; sisters, Wanda Walker and Sandra Ritter; son, Kevin Duane Raney; granddaughter, Dana Lynn Raney; and grandson, James Zipse.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 A.M. at Clark-Gashaw Funeral Home in Osborne, KS. Interment will be in the Osborne Cemetery.
