Ed Livingston

June 7, 1944 — January 27, 2026

Mahaska

Edwin Taylor Livingston was born on June 7, 1944, in Fairbury, Nebraska, to Ronald Allen & Phyllis Lucille (Taylor) Livingston. Ed grew up on the family farm near Mahaska, and attended school in Mahaska, graduating with the Mahaska High School class of 1962.

He was united in marriage to Natalie Sue Rhine on June 7, 1964, at the United Methodist Church in Haddam, Kansas, and to this union of 61 years three sons were born, Brian, Bruce, and Bradley.

Ed was a lifelong farmer in the Mahaska area. Ed lived the American dream because what he did for a living was also his hobby. Ed liked all aspects of farming whether it was driving a tractor, combining, or swathing. Ed was very talented in building things and he preferred to build things he needed rather than buying them. A few of things he built from scratch was a livestock trailer, large machine shed, and a steel bench with shelving in his workshop. The two things that Ed was most proud of was his family and his cattle. Ed was fortunate to not only marry the love of his life but also marry a woman that took care of him and pampered him every day like he was a king. Everyday Natalie would have a 5 course meal waiting for him which always included one of his favorite homemade desserts. Ed and Natalie had a special love for each other that was inseparable. When you would see Ed driving the tractor feeding cattle, you would find Natalie either riding with him or following him in a ranger to open and close the gates for him. Ed was an excellent cattleman and had a well-known reputation for the quality of cattle that he backgrounded. For those that knew Ed, it did not take long to realize that he was a very passionate, humble, caring individual who had a sense of humor and was very proud of his family. Ed was a mentor to many and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Ed passed away on January 27, 2026, at Jefferson Co. Health & Life, at the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 20 days surrounded by his loving family.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents and nephew Landon Livingston.

Ed is survived by his wife Natalie, son Brian Livingston and his wife Traci of Reynolds, Nebraska; son Bruce Livingston and his wife Trudy of Mahaska, Kansas; son Bradley Livingston and his wife Lisa of Stilwell, Kansas; grandchildren Connor Livingston and wife Felecia, Layne Livingston, Paige Livingston, Bryn Livingston and fiancé Kolton Smith, Nicholas Livingston, Eliana Livingston and significant other Auggie Judd, Nathaniel Livingston, and Lucas Livingston; great grandchildren Everett, Holden, and Oaklynn Livingston; sisters Becky Beasley (Dave) and Terri Wendlandt (Larry), brothers Lanny Livingston (Patty) and Cal Livingston (Barb), nieces, nephews, and many friends.
