Elaine Hennerberg

Elaine Marilyn (Cacek) Hennerberg 83, of Fairbury passed away April 11, 2018 in Lincoln, NE.  She was born February 16, 1935 at Odell, NE to Ralph and Merle Cacek.  She was baptized April 25, 1946 at the First Christian Church in Beatrice by the Rev. E. E. Powell.

She attended rural schools and graduated from Odell High School in 1952 with business courses.  She took a job as a secretary with Store Kraft Manufacturing Company in Beatrice, where she worked for 2 ½ years.

In 1953 Elaine was married in Odell, NE to Alvin Hennerberg of Steele City, NE.  They lived in Beatrice, NE for a year and a half, then moved to a farm 6 miles South of Diller, NE.  After farming there for about 6 years, the family moved to a farm 1 mile North of Hollenberg, KS in 1961.  One son and 2 daughters were born to this union.

They were members of State Line Lutheran Church, Hollenberg, KS.  Elaine was part-time organist through the years.  She was a member of the WELCA Church group.

In 1994, Elaine and Alvin moved to Fairbury, NE after their retirement from the farm.

Elaine did volunteer work for the Jefferson Co. Community Hospital and babysat with her grandchildren, (whom she dearly loved) when it was necessary.

After moving to Fairbury, they became members of the American Lutheran Church.

She is survived by husband Alvin Hennerberg of Fairbury, son Gary & LoCinda Hennerberg of Colleyville, TX, daughters Shirley & Jim Kelsay of Falls City, NE, Twila & Tracy Scheetz of Fairbury, 6 grandchildren Dakota Kelsay of Omaha, Amanda Kelsay of Falls City, Amy Whalen (Andy) of Carrollton, TX, Liza Hennerberg of Dallas, TX, Britney & Brigham Scheetz of Fairbury.

She is preceded in death by granddaughter Megan Scheetz, grandson Christopher Scheetz, parents Ralph & Merle Cacek, brothers Arnold & Virgil Cacek and sister Charlene Zabel.

Services will be Saturday April 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at American Lutheran Church in Fairbury with Pastor Brian Julin-McCleary officiating.  Burial will be prior to the service at the Fairbury Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. The family will greet friends at the Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 – 8:30 p.m.  Viewing will be at the Funeral Home only.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
