Elfriede Anna Kleine

Elfriede Anna Irmgard Schoenrock was born on April 22, 1932 on a farm south and west of Fairbury, the daughter of John and Anna Goeking Schoenrock of Fairbury. She died at her home in Daykin on October 27, 2007 at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 5 days.

She was baptized at Gladstone Zion United Church of Christ by Pastor Henning on May 15th, 1932. Elfriede A. Schoenrock went to a one room country school. She graduated from Daykin High School in 1950. She attended Fairbury Junior College for one summer session. She taught school for one year and then got married. Elfriede was confirmed June 17th, 1945 by Pastor William J. Lind at St. John Lutheran Church in Daykin. Her memory verse for her confirmation was, “We know that all things work together for to them that love God” - Romans 8:28.

Elfriede married Melvin Kleine on May 27, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church in Daykin by Pastor Herman C. Damm. To this union, three daughters were born, Carolyn, Christine and Diane. Melvin and Elfriede moved to a farm
2 1/2 miles west and south of Daykin. They lived there until they moved into their newly built home in Daykin. On May 8, 1994, they retired together from the many years of farming and doing chores.

Elfriede taught Sunday school numerous years and served on St. John Church Council for 2 terms. She enjoyed working outside, liked music, sewing, playing cards, making crafts, gardening and flowers. She helped as a 4-H leader for a few years and enjoyed being in Merry Mixers club for many years, making quite a number of quilts.

She is survived by daughters Carolyn Rut and husband Ron of Nebraska City, NE, Christine Bartels and husband Joe of Seward, NE and Diane Forycki and husband Ray of Lincoln, NE. Grandchildren Amy Buresh and husband Shane of Lincoln, NE, Tracy Miller and husband Dan of Malvern, IA, Matthew Rut and wife Jess of Lincoln, NE, Travis Bartels of Seward, NE, DeAnne Hass and husband Jeff of Lincoln, NE, Justin Rut of Nebraska City, NE, Trent Bartels and wife April of Eagan, MN, Jessica Forycki and Tiffany Forycki, both of Lincoln, NE. Great grandchildren, Jacob and Jadon Miller of Malvern,IA, Noah Buresh and Tresten Hass both of Lincoln, NE. A brother Ted Schoenrock and wife Shirley of Callaway, NE, a sister Hilde Schwan and husband Dick of Daykin, NE. Sisters-in-law Martha Sasse of Diller, NE, Delores Kugel and husband Marvin of Fairbury, NE, Darlene Kohel and husband Alvin of Beatrice, NE. Brothers-in-law Alfred Kleine of Diller, NE and Lawrence Kleine of Beatrice, NE. She was preceded in death by parents John and Anna Goeking Schoenrock and husband Melvin.


Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Daykin. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
