Elva Steinbrook

Elva Dora (Endorf) Steinbrook was born on January 5, 1911, on the family farm near Tobias, NE to Henry A. and Mary (Rohr) Endorf. Elva died on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury, NE at the age of 95.
She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Tobias by Rev. A.K. Schroeder and was confirmed April 5, 1925 by Rev. E.O. Potratz. She graduated from Zion Lutheran School and attended Tobias High School for one year.
On November 30, 1941 she was united in marriage to Leo F. Steinbrook by Rev. C.F. Schrein at Zion Lutheran Church. To this union was born a son, Gordon and a daughter, Mary Jean. Elva and Leo farmed south of Tobias until retiring to Fairbury in 1976.
Elva was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tobias and was active in choir and the Ladies Aid. In recent years she was an honorary member of Zion Ladies Aid. She enjoyed quilt making, embroidery, and doing crossword puzzles. She resided at her home in Fairbury until moving to Heritage Care Center in 2004.
Elva was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo F. Steinbrook, brothers Henry, Fred, John, and Louis and sisters Alma Harmsen, Nora Howe, and Marie Peters.
Survivors include - son, Gordon and wife Frances of Columbus; daughter, Mary Jean of Naperville, IL; two grandsons, Lee Steinbrook and his wife Jessica of Lincoln and Scott Steinbrook of Kearney; one great-granddaughter, Jada Beth of Lincoln; two sisters, Olga Orth of Fairbury, and Irene Wolken of Diller; sister-in-law, Alene Endorf of Daykin and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Tobias with Pastor Keith Burk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran School or to the Lutheran Hour. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home of Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
