Florence Bernice Rall, 88, of Fairbury, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Fairbury. Florence was born March 12, 1926, in Fairbury to Fred and Florence (Snow) Becker.
She lived her entire life in Fairbury, attending Fairbury schools through grade 10.
Florence was baptized November 19, 1961, in the First Baptist Church. She remained interested in the church and its activities, and enjoyed receiving the church newsletters and bulletins.
On August 28, 1966, she was united in marriage to Jack E. Rall, at the Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, assisting her husband in his gardening and produce business until his death in 2002. She enjoyed taking care of her dog and the many neighborhood cats and tending her flowers. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, bringing back souvenirs of their many trips. Florence’s favorite pastime was keeping up with her friends and family by telephone. She was a member of the Friendship Club for many years.
After recovering from a hip fracture, Florence decided to remain at the Heritage Care Center, where she resided at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, her parents, infant sister Irene Maxine, brother Fred Becker, Jr., and sister Florene Lathen.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Gertrude Becker, of Casa Grande, AZ; special nephew, Tom Lathen of Roland, IA., longtime friend Peggy Coatman Bogle of Fairbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Monday, May 19, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Gerdes-Meyer Chapel with Pastor Joel Hahn officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials will go to the family’s choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of the arrangements.
