Francis Lee "Hip" McCord 86, passed away January 5, 2019 at his home in Fairbury, NE. He was born to Alvin & Ona (Miller) McCord on May 14, 1932 in Fairbury, NE. He married Wilma McCord on September 2, 1972. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1960, following his military service, Francis worked as a USDA meat inspector until retiring to the farm life & cattle ranching he enjoyed. He found great enjoyment through his grandchildren & great grandchildren teaching them to hunt, trap & enjoy life. He also loved gardening, growing cantaloupe & watermelon with his dog Misty by his side whatever he was doing. Survivors are Wife: Wilma McCord of Fairbury, Children: Robert & Mary McCord of Fairbury, Susan & Jim Rine of Fairbury, Karla & David Dailing of Camdenton, MO., Cheryl & Billy Daugherty of Liberal, KS., Daughter-in-law: Kim Hoskinson of Battlefield, MO., 11 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, Sister: Kay Reininger of Leigh, NE., numerous Nieces & Nephews. Preceded by Son Carey Hoskinson, Brothers Pete McCord, Leonard McCord, Sisters Edith Law, Lois Godfrey, Marjorie Shoen, Parents Alvin & Ona. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 12, 2019 at Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury, with Jack Robinson officiating. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury are in charge of arrangements.
