In Loving Memory of Freda C. Burkhart
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant, Freda.
Freda C. Burkhart, daughter of Charles and Freda (Divoky) Drda, was born near Wilber on January 30, 1927.
She was baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit on September 9, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Daykin by the Rev. A. L. Kohtz.
Freda confessed her baptismal faith in the rite of Confirmation on September 9, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Daykin. She was instructed by the Rev. A.L. Kohtz. Her confirmation verse was Revelation 2:10. She was admitted to the altar to receive the medicine of immortality, Christ’s life-giving body and blood.
Freda was joined together in holy matrimony to Kenneth F. Burkhart on June 26, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Daykin by the Rev. A. L. Kohtz. God raised through this union six children, Elizabeth, Audrey, Connie, Ronda, Ritchie, and Craig.
On January 8, 2015, at the age of 87 years, Freda fell asleep in Jesus at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury.
She is survived by two daughters, Connie Meier and husband Rod of Lincoln and Ronda Wiebe and husband Gray D. of Papillion; two sons, Ritchie and wife Rhonda of Alexandria and Craig and wife Shannon of Daykin; nine grandchildren, Heather Kelly, Melissa Jones, Sara Kozak, Erin and Evan Wiebe, and Chandler, Chayton, Shanesah, and Shaysah Burkhart; nine great-grandchildren, Brendan and Carter Glanz, Hanna and Alexis Kelly, Darius Brown, Taliyah and Xavier Jones, Marianna Thornton, Bryce Malin, and Skyler Case; and two sisters, Dorothy Schamp of Lincoln and Evelyn Carver of Youngstown, Ohio.
Freda is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth on March 8, 2013; two daughters, Elizabeth and Audrey; one brother, Robert Drda; two sisters, Dana Kolarik and Delma Reich; three brothers-in-law, Richard Schamp, Virgil Burkhart, and Eldo Burkhart; and one sister-in-law, Lucille Mohling.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister, Freda. The family will greet friends Sunday January 11th at the Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. Services will be Monday January 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Daykin, NE. Burial at the church cemetery.
