Freddie Vorderstrasse

Freddie (Fritz) Vorderstrasse, 89, of Fairbury, NE passed away June 29, 2018 in Fairbury.  He was born May 14, 1929 to Casper & Louise (Pittnauer) Vorderstrasse in Plymouth, NE.

Services will be Monday July 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Fairbury, with Pastor Ken Hart officiating.  The family will greet friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday July 1st from 2 – 4 pm @  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury & they are in charge of arrangements.

Freddie (Fritz) Vorderstrasse went home with the Lord on June 29, 2018 in Fairbury, NE. He was born May 14, 1929 to Casper & Louise (Pittnauer) Vorderstrasse in Plymouth, NE. After graduating from Plymouth High school he started farming & worked on a harvest crew. On May 7, 1961 Freddie married JoAn Stafford.  In 1963 they moved to Fairbury & in the spring of 1964 Fritz went to work for the Nebraska State Dept. of Roads. He retired after 34 years. After retirement he was a national weather observer from 1998 to 2008. He also worked for the Heart grain company in Western, NE. Summers were spent coaching baseball. Later following his granddaughter playing soccer & basketball. Fritz enjoyed all sports but especially the KC Royals & all Husker sporting events. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Fairbury. Freddie is survived by Wife: JoAn Vorderstrasse of Fairbury, Son & Wife: Bruce & Carmen of Lincoln, Grandchildren: Katie & Jordan Long of Wichita, KS., Christian Tobble of Boise, ID, Brook Tobble of Wichita, KS., Alex Tobble of Wichita, KS., Great Grandson: Max Long of Wichita, KS., 3 Sisters: Alvina Holz of Alliance, Hulda Schieding of Blue Hill, Leoda Yost of Crete, Sisters-in-law: Lois Vorderstrasse of Seward, Joyce & Gary Larkins of Lincoln. Preceded in death by his Parents and numerous Brothers, Sisters, In-Laws and Nephews.
