Gary L. Richard

Gary L. Richard, 80, of Fairbury, NE passed away August 28, 2018 at Heritage Care Center in Fairbury.  He was born July 11, 1938 to Lawrence (Punch) and Freda (Gerard) Richard in Concordia, KS.

He graduated from Concordia High School in 1956 and enlisted in the Kansas National Guard.

On December 4, 1964 he married Nancy Marie Wilson and she died August 15, 1989.  On December 27, 1997 he married Bonna Hasselbring Bachle.

Gary was employed by Wentz Construction in Concordia, KS and Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph where he retired in 1997.

Survivors are his wife Bonna of Fairbury, step-children Angie (Ron) Erickson of Alexandria, NE, Brent Bachle also of Alexandria, Curtis (Carmen) Bachle of Lincoln, Dea Richard of Wylie, TX,  step-grandchildren Thorne, Sondra, Chloe, Cora and Colby Bachle, Jami and Levi Gunn, step-granddaughter Ainsle Gunn,  sister Judy (Jerry) Richard Shaffer of Mankato, KS, nephew Bryan (Gayle) Shaffer of Valley View, TX, Niece Janell Shelton of Minden, NE, great nieces & nephews  Kylea (Nathan) Shelton Strasburg of Phillipsburg, KS, Chase Shelton & Taylor Staab of Beloit, KS, Paige Shaffer of Lewisville, TX and Trevor Shaffer of Valley View, TX.

Preceded in death by his parents, and son Jeffery Richard.

Services will be Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michaels’ Catholic Church with Father John Birkel officiating.  A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the Rosary.
