Gary Stegemann

Claude (Gary) Stegemann, 78 of Beatrice, NE passed peacefully at the Beatrice Community Hospital on October 13, 2022.  He was born December 4, 1943 to Claude & Dora (Kujath) Stegemann in Fairbury.

Gary married Donna Kay Harper on August 13, 1960 at Marysville, KS and to this union 2 sons, Lee and Ron, were born.  Early on the family lived in Wymore, Holmesville and Beatrice, before settling in Fairbury in 1967.  He worked construction for a number of years and following a work accident, he worked as a custodian for a number of years at Central Ward Elementary School and raised hogs on his aunt & uncle's (Moran) farm.  He later returned to construction and became a Superintendent for C & R Engineering, where he oversaw the building of numerous projects, including the original Walmart & current high school in Fairbury.

After Donna's passing, Gary married Frances M. Forke on January 19, 1991 and they resided in Beatrice, where they took great joy in visits with grandchildren.

Gary enjoyed watching his sons compete in numerous sports activities, vegetable gardening, hunting and fishing with close friends and family, especially quail hunting with his sons and his brother Bob.  Gary owned many quality hunting dogs over the years and enjoyed watching them work in the field.

He is survived by sons, Lee (Tiffani) Stegemann of Wayne and Ron (Jane) Stegemann of Lincoln.  Brother Robert (Kim) Stegemann of Alliance, NE.  Grandchildren Dustin Stegemann and Cienna Stegemann of Elkhorn, NE, Tarah Stegemann, Kayla (Colby)Cochran and Ryan Stegemann of Lincoln.  Great grandsons, Brayden Stegemann of Wayne and Gage Cochran of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Dora Stegemann, first wife Donna Stegemann and second wife Fran Stegemann.

Services will be Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends Sunday from 4 – 6 at the funeral home.  Memorials will go to Hunter Safety Education.
