Gerald Krueger

Gerald R. Krueger, age 86 of Odell, Nebraska passed away on July 8, 2009 at Parkview Center in Beatrice. He was born March 5, 1923 at his home in Odell the son of Fred and Mildred Coleman Krueger.

Gerald graduated from Odell Public School in 1940. He married Dolores Nordmeyer on July 31, 1949. They farmed together on the family farm just west of Odell which has been in the family since 1895.

Gerald was a life long member of the United Methodist Church of Odell. His life was centered around his family, friends and the love of farming. He was a man of few words, but loved talking about the grandkids and their accomplishments. He enjoyed reading, watching “Wheel Of Fortune” and Westerns, caring for all the farm animals and especially the companionship of his dog Lassie.

Survivors include his son Garry Krueger and wife Elna of Fairbury, daughter Kathy Pearson and husband Jim of Ponca, Nebraska, son Allen Krueger and wife Ellen of Odell, sister Jean Oltman of Cairo, Nebraska, 8 grandchildren; Dan and Jeremie Krueger, Shelly Jeffries of Omaha, Becky Back and Matt Pearson of Omaha, Brent Pearson of Norfolk, Nina and Heidi Krueger of Odell, 3 great-grandchildren; Trinity and Austin Back, Josiah Pearson of Omaha, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother-in-law Ray Oltman.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 10:45 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Odell with Pastor Fay Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in the Odell Cemetery. After the burial, there will be a lunch at the Odell Community Building. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:000 - 9:00 p.m. at the Vance-Gerdes Funeral Home in Odell. Memorials are to the family’s choice.
