Gertrude A. Endorf

December 10, 1922 — September 21, 2019

Gertrude Augusta Amelia (Moeller) Endorf went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 21, 2019 while a resident at Gardenside, Fairbury, NE.

She was born on December 10, 1922 near Bradshaw area, to Otto and Marie (Schmidt) Moeller.  She was baptized at her home on December 15, 1922 by Rev. H.E. Meyer. She attended various elementary schools in the Bradshaw area.  On April 14, 1935, she was confirmed by Rev. Henricksen at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Gresham, NE.  Her confirmation verse was John 1:29.   She graduated from Gresham High School in May 1940. During her high school years, she took Normal Training and was able to teach grade school after graduation.  She taught various grade schools in York County.  During the summer months, she took education classes at Concordia Teachers College, Seward, NE.

In 1945, she accepted a call to teach at Zion Lutheran School, grades 1-4, Tobias, NE.  On June 16, 1946, she married Harold Endorf. They made their home on the Endorf home place near Tobias, NE.  In June 1996, they moved to Daykin, NE and were very active with community groups and events.

Her devotion to her husband, family, and her firm belief in God supported her throughout her lifetime.  She taught Sunday School, held several offices in the Ladies Aid and LWML, member of the church choir, served as church secretary for many years, and led Bible Circle groups.  She was also known for her cake decorating, raising beautiful flowers, and gardening.  She was an educator at heart.  She was very artistic and creative doing many crafty projects.  She loved to sew and made many quilts for the family and Lutheran World Relief.

Gertrude was blessed with a large and loving family.  They include her husband, Harold, of 73 years, two daughters, Arlyce (Norbert) Klipp, and Sheryl (Kenneth) Kruse, who live near Hanover, KS.  She was grandmother to nine grandchildren.  Andy (Mandy) Klipp, Timothy (Jennifer) Klipp, Becky (Greg) Ohlson, Andrea (Clayton) Ohlde, Vicky (Chris) Ziegler, Colleen (Sheldon) Voet, Lisa (Andrew) Moreau, Jeff (Jill) Kruse, Matthew (Laura) Kruse.  She was great-grandmother to 22 great-grandchildren.  Marilyn Moeller, of Chadron, is a surviving sister-in-law, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceeding her in death were her parents, three brothers and two sister-in-laws - Helmuth and Gunda, Walter and Helen, and Otto Jr. and one great-grandchild – Garrett Klipp.

Visitation will be held on September 25, 2019 from 6-8pm at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 1:30pm.

Interment is at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Tobias, NE.
