Gilbert L. Beadle

Gilbert Lee Beadle, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on December 16, 2021. Gilbert was born in Olewein, Iowa on August 5, 1938, to Margaret Viola (Jefferies) and Percy Beadle.  He attended school in Council Bluffs, Iowa, through the 11 ^th grade.  At the age of 17, in 1955, Gilbert enlisted in the U. S. Navy.  He was stationed on the East Coast except for a few years in Bremerton, Washington.

Gilbert was on Destroyers and guided Missile Cruisers.  He did 7 Mediterranean Cruises.  While in the Mediterranean, he was in Port in Cannes, France, Barcelona, Spain, Athens, Greece and Naples, Italy.

While in the Navy, Gilbert married Marcene Griffin and to this union 2 children were born – Gilbert Beadle, Jr. (Buzz) of Hastings, NE and Suzan Trotter of Mobile, Alabama.  After 22 years in the Navy, Gilbert retired as a Master Chief and became a Stationary Engineer.  Marcene passed away in 2005.  In 2008 he met Sheryl McDaniel and they married on May 9 ^th , 2009. Gilbert gained a huge family when they married, and he enjoyed spending time with everyone.

Gilbert and Sheryl loved to travel.  They attended many Navy Reunions on the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico.  One of their favorite places to visit was Branson, Missouri.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Sheryl, son Gilbert Beadle, Jr. and daughter, Susan Trotter, Stepdaughter, Rhonda McDaniel (Vern Niemand), Steps-sons Jeff McDaniel (Brenda), Tod McDaniel (Leslie) and Jami McDaniel (Jaime) Granddaughter, Trisha Beadle (Jeremiah) Grandson, Josh Meyers (Nikki). Step-Granddaughters, Kelsey, Natasha, Hannah, Maddie, and Lauren McDaniel, Maddy and Abby Busing. Step-grandsons Landon & Nathan McDaniel, 3 Great-granddaughters, 3 Step-Great-Granddaughters and 4 Step-Great Grandsons, Numerous nieces, and nephews.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, 1 ^st wife, infant son, Brian, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on December 29 ^th at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Sea in the Atlantic Ocean at a later date.
