Glenda was born April 13, 1939, in East Lynne, MO to Theodore and Gladys Taylor, she went home on January 30, 2022. She grew up in Booneville MO and attended Booneville High School where she graduated in 1957. She married David L Sims on June 26, 1957, and they moved to Western NE in 1965, where they raised their children, four boys and one girl. She loved the fact that one son and one granddaughter shared the same birthdate as her, two excellent birthday gifts. She was super excited when she became a grandma to 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
She was very involved in her children's lives and attended all their school activities, football, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, and volleyball kept her very busy. She worked at several places during her time with us, Formfit in Crete, Kellwood in Fairbury and her last job, her favorite, at Marcy’s Hallmark Shop in Fairbury. She bowled every Wednesday evening for many years and enjoyed the night away from her five kids, if you know them you know why. She loved spending time with her friends in the Four-Square Church in Fairbury and enjoyed playing the organ there and at home for many years. She spent many nights in conversation with Kathryn Molczyk, her best friend, and never missed a moment with her fur baby Kittycat.
She didn’t get to travel overseas often, but one trip she always talked about was her visit to Jerusalem. This was very important to her, so much so, that she made the journey alone. While traveling on this new journey, she may be alone, but she will be with several loved ones and friends when she gets there.
She is survived by a brother Leslie Taylor, children David (Carol) Sims, Bruce Sims, Richard Sims, Sheryl (Tim) Summers and Theodore (Beverly) Sims. She is preceded in death by her husband, David L Sims, brother Monroe Taylor, sister JoAnne Hammontree and parents Theodore and Gladys Taylor.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Four Square Church in Fairbury NE at 10:30 A.M. followed by the interment at Western, NE Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
