Obituary for Harold Elgert
Harold “Jack” Elgert, of Fairbury, was born on March 12, 1917 near Reynolds, Nebraska, the son of Henry and Anna Lottman Elgert, and died on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 25 days.
Harold was a retired hospital custodian and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife Bernice Elgert of Fairbury, son Darrell Elgert and his wife Rose of Dannebrog, Nebraska, grandson Zachary Elgert of Lincoln, Nebraska, step-grandchildren, Desiree, Krystyna, Amber and Cody Murphy all of Dannebrog, Nebraska, sisters Velma Hammer and Lois Templin of Reynolds, Nebraska, Gladys Byrd, Marge Terrill and her husband Dean, DeLoris Elgert and Joann Rarick all of Fairbury.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery with military rites at the graveside. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice. Services will be on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the Foursquare Church in Fairbury with Pastor David Lutze officiating.
