Harry Fredrick Hasselbring, age 82 of Fairbury died on January 26, 2008 in Fairbury. He was born March 15, 1925 at Alexandria, Nebraska the son of Fred and Minnie Schweer Hasselbring. He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1943 and entered into WW2 on March 23, 1945. He served his country in the U.S. Army until November 19, 1946. On May 5, 1945 he married his high school sweetheart Everna Bedlan at Belleville, Kansas. Harry ran the cafe in Alexandria from 1951 to 1964 and then worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for one year and then moved to Fairbury in 1965. He then started working at Roode's Packing and made Fairbury Brand Hot Dogs for 28 years until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife Everna Hasselbring of Fairbury, daughter Donna Ellis and husband Rick of Auburn, Nebraska, son Max Hasselbring and wife Lisa of Johnson, Nebraska, grandchildren Kelsey and Kylie Hasselbring, sisters-in-law Darlene Houser of Bruning, Nebraska, Erma Polage and husband Emmitt of Alexandria, Nebraska and Leona Hasselbring of Alexandria, Nebraska, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ervin, Henry and Ed Hasselbring, grandson Mark Ellis, brother-in-law Jack Houser, sisters-in-law Mildred Hasselbring and Helen Hasselbring.
Services will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Fairbury with Don Canady officiating. Burial will be in the Alexandria City Cemetery.
