Hazel N. Seachord

October 25, 1922 — December 12, 2015

Hazel Norene Seachord, 93, of Fairbury passed away December 12, 2015 at Heritage Care Center. She was born to Chauncy and Anna (Boosinger) Bacon on October 25, 1922 in Patterson, MO.

Survivors are son Michael Seachord and wife, Cheryl of Fairbury and son Gary Seachord and wife, Terri of Beatrice, 5 grandchildren: Lyle Megli and his wife Bobbi, Michelle Cate, Andy Seachord, Alicia Seachord and Dusty Seachord and 3 great-grandchildren: Lyle D. Cate, Logan Cate and Taye Seachord, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry Seachord, daughter and son-in-law Norene and Dale Megli, brothers Burr, Orville, and Flem, and sisters Dolly, Violet, Bessie, Verna, and Goldie.

As a child, she attended a one-room country school near Patterson, MO. Later, she and her family moved to Pawnee City, NE where she met her future husband, Harry. They married and moved to Fairbury, NE where they raised their family. She worked at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital and Fairbury Junior College for many years. She greatly enjoyed cooking, music, sewing, holidays and family gatherings.

Services will be December 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Fairbury, NE with Pastor Darlene Novotny officiating. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials to family’s choice.
