Helen Theresa (Eilts) Schoenrock was born July 13, 1931 in Fairbury, NE to Bernard and Minnie (Kujath) Eilts. She passed away at Cedarwood Assisted Living on September 14, 2017 after a long illness.
Helen is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Richard, her daughter, Cynthia and husband Frank Demers, and son, Raymond and wife Denise Schoenrock, four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, one half-brother, and three half-sisters. Grandchildren include Corey Schoenrock, Carey Jacobs and husband Bryan, Diane Daiker and husband Ron, and Sarah Lytle and husband Brent.
She was baptized, confirmed, and married in the East Gladstone Church which is now Zion Countryside Church. Helen was a woman of faith and dedicated to the church. She sang in the choir, served on the church board numerous times, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was a member of Women’s Fellowship and played the organ occasionally.
She enjoyed word games, putting puzzles together, cross stitch, and playing cards, especially pinochle. One of her greatest loves was cooking for her family and friends. She was also a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and she held her sorority sisters in high esteem. She also found joy in collecting angels, Depression glass, and cookbooks.
Helen worked for Farmer’s Union Creamery, Department of Social Services, and was a legal secretary for 17 years. She retired from Social Services and returned to work as a legal secretary until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, one half-brother, two half-sisters, and infant twin great-grandsons, John Paul and Benedict Joseph Daiker.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Countryside Church with Dr. Howard Law, Pastor, officiating. Cremation has taken place. No viewing, a register book is available at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Zion Countryside Church and family’s choice.
