Henry “Jay” O. Bogle, Jr. passed away December 22, 2017 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. He was born March 1, 1927 to Henry & Myrna Boydstun Bogle Sr. in Los Angeles, CA. Survivors are Wife: Peggy Coatman-Bogle of Fairbury, Step Children: Joseph & Sharon Herman of Barnhardt, MO., Dan Herman of Hobbs, NM., David Herman of Hobbs, NM., Lori & Brian Hopps of Dexter, MI., Julie & Clark Easton of Hebron, Numerous Step Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday December 28, 2017 at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury, with Pastor Kyle Bendorf officiating. Burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery-Rural Fairbury, NE. Memorials to Matt Talbot’s Kitchen. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury are in charge of arrangements.
Henry Orville Bogle, Jr. "Jay", was born in Los Angeles, CA. on March 1, 1927 to Henry O. & Myrna M. (Boydstun) Bogle, Sr. His early childhood was spent in several states, where his father worked in the oil fields. In 1941 the family returned to CA. working in the shipyards & tank factories during W W II. After the war they moved to New Mexico where his father worked for the railroad. For many years "Jay" operateda water well digging rig in New Mexico & Texas. He eventually worked at Syngenta in Dallas as maintenance supervisor of all the machines. He retired from there in 1992. Jay was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, but eventually learned to cheer on the Huskers as well! In 2003 he married Mary Ann Herman & acquired a large family of step sons. Marry Ann passed away in 2009, & Jay moved to the St. Louis area to be near one of his step sons. In 2011 he married Peggy (Michels) Coatman in Fairbury, NE. & moved to Nebraska. Jay passed away December 22, 2017 at the age of 90. Survivors include his step children Joseph & Sharon Herman of Barnhart, MO., Dan Herman & David Herman of Hobbs, NM., Lori & Brian Hopps of Dexter, MI., Julie & Clark Easton of Hebron, as well as step grandchildren & great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, infant sister Alvora, brother Robert, & 1st Wife Marry Ann.
