Ina was born on a farm north of Morrowville, Kansas to George and Anna (Lemmon) Walkemeyer on March 16, 1928. She was welcomed home by an older sister, Mabel. She lived in this farm home till she went to High School in Morrowville.
Her father George was only able to live with her 5 ½ months when he passed away, August 8, 1928. Her mother and sister raised her. She went to a country school named Bales, about ¾ of a mile from the farm home.
She and her mother moved to Morrowville in her high school years. During her senior year she met and married Lowell E. Hill in Washington, Kansas. As a married couple they lived first in Fairbury then Helvey, NE. They then moved to Milford, NE, so that Lowell could attend Milford Trade School, in carpentry. Lowell and Ina again lived in Fairbury for many years.
To this union two sons were born, Charles E. and Dale G. Her sons meant so much to her. Her sons met and married their wives Joy and Rosena. That too gave her great joy. The grandchildren were the good things of life to her. First was Geri Hill Pendergast, Lowell Hill, who passed away at 14 years old, Robin Hill Yankus, Teresa Hill Odenbaugh, Deidre Hill Banahan, Curtis Hill, Stephanie Hill Buckner, Trent James Hill known as T. J.
She did many Volunteer jobs. She taught Sunday School, was a Missionette Leader, Ina was State Chaplain for over 30 years with F.C.R.V. (Family Camper and RVer’s), volunteered at the V.A. Hospital and RV Volunteers with the Assemblies of God. Doing many years of volunteering with her husband Lowell, who passed away on May 22, 1992. Ina continued to volunteer with the MAPS program through the Assembly of God and met Roland Eugene Carriker and they married in Beatrice, May 9, 1999.
Something that Ina was proud of, was when she received her certified minister license with the Assemblies of God on Oct. 20, 2003. She filled in at churches, also did many services at nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
She accepted Jesus as her savior in 1953 and remained true to Him. She was a member of the Believe Assembly of God church.
She leaves behind her two sons, Charley (Joy) Hill, Dale (Rosena) Hill and a stepson Kyle (Becky) Carriker and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ina had been living at Gardenside since October of 2024 and had received wonderful care.
Ina went to be with Jesus on Saturday, September 13th. She was surrounded by family.
INA WILL TRULY BE MISSED
Services will be Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Believe Assembly of God – Jansen, NE with Stephanie Buckner officiating. Burial in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 5 - 7 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Memorials will go to the family's choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
