James J. Melcher 85 of Fairbury, NE., passed away February 10, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, NE. He was born March 2, 1927 at Monroe, NE. to William & Katherine (Albracht) Melcher.

Survivors are Wife: Merle Melcher of Fairbury, Son: Bill Melcher & Wife Cindy of Fairbury, Daughter: Karla Melander & Husband Timothy of McKinney, TX., 7 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, In-Laws: Dario Marenco of Stockton, CA., Lester Miles & Wife Rose of Plainview, NE., Eldora Hardy of Buffalo, WY., Robert Miles & Wife Kathleen of Thedford, NE., Samuel Miles & Wife Charlotte of Valentine, NE., Bernard Miles & Wife Lovella of Valentine, NE. Preceded by Parents 3 Sisters, Brother-in-law Burton Hardy, Nephew Bob Hardy, Sister-in-law Alberta Miles.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 14, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Fairbury, with Father John Birkel officiating. A Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Funeral Home in Fairbury. Memorials to the Knights of Columbus.
