Janet F. (Ross) Brown passed away peacefully in her home July 28, 2015. She was born to Henry and Jane (Bevington) Ross January 8, 1934 near Narka, Kansas.
She married Robert M. Brown on December 22, 1953 in Western, Nebraska. They had three children; Robert Jr., Sheri and Jeff. Janet lost her husband of over 61 years May 20, 2015. For 42 years she worked alongside husband Bob at Brown’s Store in Western. Janet had a great laugh and smile, and simply enjoyed being with people.
Janet was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always making everyone feel loved and special. Her favorite pastimes were reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching sports. She loved the Cornhuskers and supported all the University athletic programs. She and Bob enjoyed meeting family and friends at Fonner Park or Aksarben for an afternoon of fun.
Janet is survived by her children: Bob and wife Mari, Sheri and husband Ted George, Jeff and wife Kay. Grandchildren: Matt and Emily Brown, Amber Brown and friend Reva, Autumn and Jeff Gandt, Amanda and Joe Donnelly, Alicia and Skyler Biek, Amy George, Audrey and Matt Pound, Tommy George and Michelle Bales. Great grandchildren: Emerson Brown-Rebuck, Ambrose, Rohan and Emmett Donnelly, Maggie, Mary and Maureen George, Cooper Wolfe and Creighton Bales. Also survived by; sister-in-law Nancy and husband Harold Knobel, sisters Marjorie (Ross) Mammen, Shirley (Ross) Wiemers, Joyce (Ross) and husband Marvin Hohensee. Her sisters were always a loving and supportive part of her life.
Preceded in death by husband Robert; her father and mother, Henry and Jane Ross, sister and brother-in-laws Rosalie (Ross) and Dale DeyErmand, Bonnie (Ross) and Leo Hohensee, brother-in-laws Don Mammen and Duane Wiemers.
A gathering to honor Bob and Janet will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Western Fire Hall from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. Memorials will be given to the Western E.M.T. and Library.
