Janice Carol Bodtke was born on Dec. 18th, 1943, in rural Gilead, NE to parents Ida Christine (Aufderheide) Bodtke and Edward Frank Bodtke.

Janice was member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gilead, NE where she was baptized and confirmed. Janice found refuge in the bible verse John 3:16 and devoted her life to God.

Janice graduated from Reynolds High School in 1961 and then went on to study teaching.

Janice then taught school in rural Edgar, NE where she soon met Eugene Ernest Buresh.

Janice and Eugene were united in marriage and blessed with four children, Trudy Jean, Tammy Lynn, Troy Ryan and Trisha Marie.

Janice, Eugene and family lived in a home in Deshler, NE.

Janice also enjoyed assisting and caring for the elderly at Blue Valley Lutheran Homes in Hebron, NE where she later worked.

Janice enjoyed the simple things in life such as quilting, camping, music, crafts, cats and cooking. The kids especially have fond memories of growing up with many cats, camping trips, vacation to South Dakota, tire swings and parks, spending time under the willow tree, special songs, her amazing buttermilk brownies and family recipes.

Janice will be remembered for her humble and caring heart for those less fortunate and the love for her family. Janice didn't need fancy things but treasured the sentimental and priceless moments in her life.

Janice passed peacefully surrounded by family in her home in Jansen, NE on April 30th with Christ in her heart and ready to go to her final resting place.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury. Inurnment in Fairbury Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
