Jeanette R. Banahan

February 28, 1961 — March 6, 2021

Jeanette Rose Banahan died March 6, 2021 at Bryan Health – East in Lincoln, NE.  She was born February 28, 1961 to Eldean & Norma Jean (Weers) Banahan in Fairbury.

Jeanette was baptized soon after and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith, a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran of Diller.

She attended school at Steele City, where she especially enjoyed spelling contests, then Diller, graduating in 1979.  Jeanette was a graduate of Emporia College and Washburn University. After working at Lincoln Regional Center, she received a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  She lived and worked in Omaha for ten years, before moving to Beatrice where she was employed at BSDC for a while.

Jeanette was an avid reader, enjoyed travel, enjoyed musical concerts and plays. She was a strong advocate for the handicapped.  Jeanette loved flowers and having plants on her patio.  She was very independent, taking care of herself and she drove herself everywhere.  She had endured many surgeries and procedures in her life. She received her first wheelchair when she was four years old.

She is survived by her parents, brothers Michael and fiancée Karla, Kevin, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her grandparents George & Rose Banahan & Martin & Clara Weers.

Services will be Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Diller, NE with Pastor Mark Liscom officiating.  Memorials will go to the Spina Bifida Association.  Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery.  Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
