Jerry Talbot (88) of Endicott, NE passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023, after a brief stay at Good Samaritan in Beatrice, NE.
He was born May 24, 1935, in Greenleaf, KS to Leroy Ivan Talbot & Matilda (Wurtz) Talbot. He attended school in Greenleaf and then moved to Endicott to find employment. Not soon after moving, he met Wanda Criner at Giffords Cafe, and it was the beginning of what would become a lifetime of being together. They were married in January of 1956.
In 1958 they moved to Texas where Jerry did his basic training for the U.S. Army at Fort Hood. After basic, he was sent to U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr in Germany. He drove many, many miles while he was there and got to see a lot of the German countryside. He finished his Army career in 1960 and returned to Nebraska.
They then moved to Beatrice, where he worked for the State Department of Roads. Later they moved back to Endicott where he started working for Eigenberg trucking and spent a few years traveling over a great deal of the US delivering chickens. He then spent the last 20+ years working at Endicott Clay Products as a night foreman until his retirement.
He was a member of the Endicott United Methodist Church. He held positions on several committees and always made sure to do his part with the upkeep and maintenance of the church.
To this union 3 children were born. Doug Talbot, Sheryl (Ron) Rhoden & Joni Talbot all of Endicott.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda. His parents. Brothers Gene Talbot, Bob Talbot, Leon Talbot. Sister Yvonne Talbot. Mother & Father-in-law Wilma & Ivan Criner. Brothers-in-law Alvin Brungardt, William Wilkes, Robert Asp, Loren (Jim) Criner, Kent (Buzz) Criner & Bill Criner. Sister-in-law Carol Criner.
Survivors include his 3 children. Grandchildren Sarah (Pete) McGoldrick of AZ, Brandi (Hans) Keim of IA, Brittany (Brent) Stanton of Fairbury, Richard (Justise) Rhoden of Aurora, NE, Angela Rhoden & fiancé Bryce Reichard of KS. Great Grandchildren Donavan & Kyle McGoldrick, Caysen, Connor & Caleb Stanton, Eden & Adelyn Keim. Brothers Jim (Marguerite) Talbot & Raymond (Sherri) Talbot of KS. Sisters Marilyn Brungardt of KS, Kathleen Wilkes of OK, Laura Asp of TX, Margaret Talbot of MS. Sisters-in-law Darlene Betz of FL, Mary Criner of Fairbury & Cathy Cumpston of North Platte. Numerous Nieces, Nephews & Cousins.
Services will be Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10:30 at the Methodist Church in Endicott, NE. Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
