Jim Lee Schoenrock

March 12, 1945 — April 20, 2026

Fairbury

Jim Schoenrock was born March 12, 1945 to Walter and Frances Schoenrock of rural Fairbury. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion UCC east of Gladstone.

His elementary school years were spent at Pleasant Valley District 40. He graduated from Fairbury High School in 1963, participating in FFA. He graduated from Fairbury Junior College in 1965 and joined the National Guard, serving 4 years.

He grew up in a close and loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Every Sunday night was spent together, playing yard games or cards and having lunch!

As a teenager he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He hunted pheasants, quail, rabbits and squirrels. He also set trap lines on Rose Creek. All the fish and game were brought home and eaten by the family.

After college he worked as a farm hand for several local farmers before becoming a full time farmer/rancher with his Dad and brother.

He also followed sports closely, mainly the LA Dodgers, Fairbury teams and NE football. He generously took his little sister and her friends to all the Fairbury away games in his blue Dodge Charger.

He was generous with his time and money, supporting many charities and delivering free eggs to neighbors and friends. When Don's health deteriorated, he picked him up daily for their pasture cattle checks.

He was a member of the Young Farmers, Fairbury Rural Fire, Pheasants Forever and served at least one term on the church council.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Don and sister-in-law Donna Schoenrock. He is survived by his sister Priscilla (Tom) Blobaum, sister-in-law Barb Schoenrock, niece and nephew Erin Blobaum, Dan (Eve) Blobaum, Alex and Addison.

After passing away just days apart, Jim and his brother, Don, will be honored together in a joint celebration of life. Family will greet friends on Sunday, April 26th, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 27th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Zion Countryside Church in Gladstone, with interment to follow at the Zion Countryside Cemetery.
