Joann Roesler passed away peacefully at her home in Western, Nebraska on November 11, 2020 surrounded by her family.
JoAnn Drake Roesler was born on June 22, 1945, in Lincoln, Nebraska at St. Elizabeth Hospital to Gerald and Velma Drake. She graduated from Western Public School in 1963 and went on to graduate from Ben’s Beauty School the following year. She was married to George Roesler on February 28, 1964, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lincoln. They were blessed with 4 children over the course of their 56 year marriage. She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 2002 after 34 treasured years. During that time, she loved watching her kids’ countless ball games. She spent lots of time riding motorcycles and camping, and she loved visiting the Black Hills. JoAnn spent many hours tracing the genealogy of her large family. Her favorite memories were spending time with her many nieces and nephews. She was always up for playing cards, whether it be poker, pitch, or old maid with the little ones. She was a great cook and an expert pie maker. After moving back to Western in 2004, you could often see her happily riding on the golf cart with her grandkids. Laughing with her family and friends was always at the top of her list of favorite activities. Anyone who knows JoAnn knows her obituary would not be complete without mentioning how much she loved her “Georgie”.
Memorials have been established to Zion Lutheran Church of Tobias and Western Volunteer Fire Department.
