Joe R. Payne, age 81 of Steele City, Nebraska passed away on January 4, 2009 in Fairbury. He was born March 26, 1927 at Fairbury the son of Leonard and Mary Ann Rathbun Payne.

Survivors include his wife Berdine Payne, daughters Jacquellyn Nault, Betty Novotny and husband Butch, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Rose Payne, nieces and nephew.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Steele City with Don Canady officiating. Burial will be in the Steele City Cemetery.
