Joseph Hermsmeier, 75, of Auburn Nebraska, passed away on June 18th in Auburn. Joe was born in Beatrice to Loyd and Elsie (Sipek) Hermsmeier on May 18 th , 1945. Joe graduated from Tecumseh High in 1963. Following graduation he served in the Army, stationed in Germany, as a member of the First Air Defense Guided Missile Group and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and an Expert Infantry Badge. He married Linda Phillips on August 24 th , 1969 in Tecumseh Nebraska. They had 2 daughters Deanna and Joanna. He worked many years as an auto mechanic and before opening his own shop, J&L Auto Service when they settled in Swanton, Nebraska. Joe loved to play pitch and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was involved in United Kennel Club for many years and served as a Master of Hounds for 15 years.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Elsie (Sipek) Hermsmeier, wife Linda, Brother-in-Law Jerry Dittmer and special friend Patricia Hinkle.
Joe is survived by daughters Deanna (Rich) Lierman, Joanna (Ron) Prelvitz, fiancé Connie Humm, siblings Stan Hermsmeier and Judy Dittmer, grand children Taylor Collins, Miakasa, Mikwena, Mikya Leirman, Joseph Prelvitz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Swanton Auditorium. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
