Juanita E. Regnier of Fairbury, Nebraska, died on January 9, 2014, at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury at the age of 94. Juanita was born on the Baca County ranch near Two Buttes, Colorado, to Roy and Katie (Dacy) Regnier on March 12, 1919. Juanita was the seventh child in the Regnier family and grew up with two older sisters and four older brothers.
The Regnier family moved to Jefferson County, Nebraska, in the mid-1920’s and most of them were involved in farming in the area. Juanita graduated from Fairbury High School in the Class of 1936. Juanita enjoyed the farm, especially her horses, and was an avid rider in her younger days. She also spent a lot of time raising flowers and gardening. She especially enjoyed arranging flowers and entering them in the County Fairs where she often won prizes. Juanita worked as a homemaker for her aging parents, and then worked as a care-giver in several other elderly persons’ homes.
Juanita was a creative person and enjoyed playing the piano, her guitar, singing, and listening to the radio, as well as sewing and trying new recipes that she collected.
Juanita resided at Parkview Manor in Fairbury for a number of years until she moved to Heritage Care Center in 2007.
Preceding Juanita in death were her brothers and sisters-in-laws--Felix and Laura Regnier, Paul and Laura Regnier, Ivan and Luella Regnier, and Louis and Jule Regnier; her sister Kathy Regnier, her sister and brother-in-law Pamelia and Lester Seggerman; two infant brothers in Colorado, William and Napoleon; and also two nieces, Donna (Regnier) Burch, and Joyce (Regnier) McCord.
Survivors include 13 nieces and nephews: Robert Regnier of Colorado, Rosemary Wahl of Lincoln, William (Jerry) Regnier of Evanston, WY, Kathy Hixon of Fort Collins, CO, Sid Regnier of Arkansas City, KS, Karen Regnier of Omaha, William L. Regnier of Omaha, Rita Regnier of Omaha, Mary Seefeld of Yutan, NE, Marilyn Seggerman of Fairbury, Betty Jorgensen of Cambridge, NE, Patricia Allison of Derby, KS, and David Seggerman of Fairmont, NE, as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-greats.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Fairbury on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with burial in the Fairbury Cemetery. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be given to Heritage Care Center of Fairbury or to the charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
