June Nutsch, 93 years old passed away March 30, 2018 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. She was born June 8, 1924 to Rollie & Tennessee (James) Roskilly at home in Hill City, KS. She had 4 brothers & 2 sisters. She went to Country School for 8 years by Hill City, KS. She went 2 years at Hill City High School. Then her parents moved the family to Diller, NE. & she attended one year at Diller High School & then her parents moved to a farm south of Steele City, NE. & she graduated from Steele City High School in 1942. She received her teachers certificate & taught in Nebraska & Kansas rural schools for 25 years. She married Louis Paul Nutsch on February 26, 1949. They were married at the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Morrowville, KS. She was baptized in the Catholic Church at that time. They had one son Paul Rollie Nutsch on November 9, 1951. They farmed in Kansas & Nebraska & moved to Oregon twice where her husband worked construction. They moved back to Fairbury & lived there the rest of her life. After her husband was killed in a car–train accident she still taught school & retired with 25 years of teaching in rural schools. Then she worked in the kitchen at the Fairbury Junior College for 3 years & the Sweden Cream Drive-In & then she worked at the Heritage Care Center for 17 years. After she retired from that she Volunteered at the Senior Diner in Fairbury. She belonged to the St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Fairbury & the Steele City American Legion Auxiliary. She held several offices in the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 brothers, & one sister, 6 brothers-in-law, & 2 sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law: Paul & Jan Nutsch, 3 grandsons: Matt & Serita, Dan & Dorothy & A.J. Nutsch, two great granddaughters Evelynn, & Olivia Nutsch, one sister & brother-in-law: Zona & Clinton Quintana, 3 sisters-in-law & lots of nephews & nieces.
Services will be Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fairbury with Father John Birkel officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. A Rosary will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 at the Gerdes-Meyer Chapel. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. Memorials will go to the Fairbury Senior Diner.
