Kathren R. Mees

Kathren R. Mees passed away at Gardenside LTC in Fairbury on May 8, 2017, at the age of 95. The daughter of Henry and Katherine Wegele, she was born September 15, 1921 on a farm near Jansen, where she and her husband farmed until his death on May 7, 1976.
She remained on the farm until moving to Fairbury in September of 1992. As an infant she was baptized at Hope Reformed Church near Harbine on November 20, 1921. She was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jansen on April 10, 1938 where she remained a member until her death.

Kathren was a member of the Ladies Aid and LWML. She was united in marriage to Arnold F. Mees of Jansen on July 2, 1941 in the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are son David and wife Char of Fairbury, daughter Shirley Fox of Fremont, NE, 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold, her parents, an infant grandson Michael Wagner, brother Alvin Wegele, sisters Dorothea Arntt & Hilda Eggert, and son-in-law Bob Fox.

Services will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jansen, with Pastor Charles Schmidt officiating. Memorials will go to the Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
