Kathryn Joyce Rinehart was born August 29, 1926 and died November 10, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents William “Bill” & Berle (Pottinger) Stegeman, husband Roy Rinehart, Brother Claude & Dora Stegeman, two infant brothers, Sisters Hazel & Walt Trank, Bonnie & Hjalmar “Jay” Sydow.
Survivors are son Michel & Lorene (Schultis) Rinehart, Grandchildren, Melissa (Rinehart) and Chris Ludwa, Becky (Rinehart) and Mark Telles, and Aaron Rinehart, Great-Grandchildren Alexandre Ludwa, Elliott Ludwa, Estelle Telles and Luella Lilleholm.
Kathryn attended Fairbury High School. Her first job was with the J. C. Penney Company, ironing clothes before they were put out for display. She worked mostly clerical or bookkeeping jobs and would spend hours finding even a one cent error.
She married Roy W. Rinehart on December 2, 1947 and they had a son Michel Rinehart. They moved to Ravenna, NE in 1948 where Roy opened a Shoe Repair Shop. They moved back to Fairbury in 1955. She worked many different jobs over 70 years. She and Roy owned Rinehart Shoe Repair, The Fairbury Taxi and the Tenth Inning bar and grill. She retired when she was 86 and moved to Omaha to be close to her son.
Kathryn loved being with her family and telling stories as well as reading to the grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing and singing. She sang in the church choir, was a member and officer of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, belonged to the Fairbury Elks Lodge and served on the Youth Center Board. She was a life member of the First Christian Church.
Graveside services will be Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 at the Fairbury Cemetery.
