Kenneth Ray Messing

Kenneth Ray Messing, age 63, departed this life unexpectedly on December 12th, 2013
while on business in Oklahoma. Kenny was born in Fairbury January 29th 1950 , the
youngest of five children born to Bill and Fern (Archer) Messing of Gilead.


The family moved to Fairbury in 1953 where Kenneth attended West Ward and participated
in Cub Scouts, Little League, a paper route and slot car racing. In 1968 he graduated
Fairbury High and joined the US Army, serving most of his 2 year tour in Germany
working as a computer tech. He worked for Ford Garage and several years later opened his
own shop full-time. He had been active in the motorcycle and drag racing community for years.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are brothers: Jerald, Missoula MT,
John & Gilda of Dayton OH; sisters Ruth of WA and Loretta & Dennis Hatfield, Hickman, NE;
3 nephews and 5 nieces, one aunt, one uncle, numerous cousins and many friends.


Services will be Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home Chapel in Fairbury, Nebraska, with Dennis Hatfield officiating. Memorials will go to Family’s Choice. Military Rites by Fairbury VFW at the Fairbury Cemetery.
