Kent "Buzz" Criner

February 10, 1938 — January 15, 2017

Kent “Buzz” Criner 78 of Fairbury, NE. passed away January 15, 2017 at Jefferson Community Health Center in Fairbury. He was born On February 10, 1938 in Fairbury, NE. to Ivan & Wilma Criner.

He attended school and graduated from Endicott High School. After high school he enlisted in the Army and served his active duty at Fort Leonardwood, MO., Fort Campbell, & Fort Knox Kentucky. And he was in the Army reserve.

He married Mary Linenberger on May 13, 1961. They had three children, daughter Kimberly Annette, son Timothy Scott, and Shannon Marie. He was a 45 year member of the Fairbury ELKs Lodge # 1203. He helped with activities and organizations in this area. He was a big country music fan. He enjoyed racing and loved to attend many racing events in our area. He enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife. He enjoyed “going to coffee” and visiting with his friends. He was a good story teller and liked to tease and exchange lots of jokes with his friends and family. He loved his family, including siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

“Buzz” is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Kimberly Criner, son Scott & daughter-in-law Christine Criner, grandchildren Zach Bradley, Carlee & Chelsee Criner, sister Wanda and Jerry Talbot, sisters-in-law Carol Criner and Cathy & Charles Cumpston, lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded by his parents, daughter Shannon Criner, brothers Loren James & William (Bill) Criner, infant sister Martha Criner, nephews Michael Criner, Eddie & Everett Linenberger, In-laws Al & Josephine Linenberger.

Services will be at 10:30 am Thursday January 19, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Endicott, with Darlene Novotny officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday January 18th from 6 to 8 pm at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Burial will be at the Fairbury Cemetery-Fairbury, NE. Memorials to the Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
