Larry Dean Niederklein was born November 8, 1950 to Erwin G. & Erna L. (Marschman) Niederklein in Fairbury, NE. His entire life was spent in residence in Daykin, NE. He passed away April 7, 2019 at Gardenside Nursing Home in Fairbury at the age of 68 years and 5 months where he had been a patient for a short time.
His early childhood education was split between Daykin Elementary School and the Zion Lutheran Parochial School in rural Tobias, NE. He attended Daykin High School and graduated from Meridian in 1969. He attended the Fairbury Junior College for 2 years. His employment with Nebraska Department of Roads for over thirty years was a source of pride for Larry. He took very seriously his responsibility of maintaining the roads so motorists were comfortable and safe. Plowing snow, patching surfaces and mowing ditches were some of his duties. While on the job, in 2006 Larry sustained a TBI (traumatic brain injury) that caused him to have to retire. After long recuperation, Larry became a regular at the Daykin Country Store and enjoyed his honorary job of helping the girls unload the food trucks and stock the shelves. For recreation Larry loved playing fast pitch softball and being on the Daykin team. He was an avid Husker fan and attended many home football and baseball games. Card playing was another source of pleasure.
On September 12, 1997, Larry married Becky (Diddy) Henry. During their marriage of over 21 years, they enjoyed traveling to see relatives and bus tours that exposed them to new and interesting people, places and things.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Becky of Daykin, step-children Rick (Shani) Henry of Helena MT, Jill (Eddie) Kerrigan of Leadville, CO and grandchildren Isaac and Emma Henry and a host of relatives and friends. Larry was a kind and gentle man, and will be missed by all.
