Larry David Sittler 76, of Fairbury, was born in Deshler, Nebraska on April 19, 1938, to Thorsle Josephine Brin and Franklin J. Sittler. He passed away on August 22, 2014 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fairbury, Nebraska.
Larry was a longtime lover of anything trains. He loved to go fishing with friends, attend church on Sundays, sing hymns, dance to polka music, go on bike rides, car races, watch cars, watch westerns, Nebraska Huskers football games and make coffee. He always loved fish and a cold glass of iced tea. He had a strong love for animals and the outdoors. Larry loved to wear the color red. Larry touched the lives of many people. Every person who met Larry was attracted to his smile and his sense of humor. He will never be forgotten by anyone who met him.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Josephine Sittler and one sibling.
Funeral services will be conducted at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fairbury on August 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., with Father John Birkel officiating. Organist Carolyn Osborne was accompanied with vocals by DeAnn Cudly with special music at his service, “Amazing Grace”, “One Bread, One Body”, “Gift of Finest Wheat” and “How Great Thou Art”. Lector was Bob Kluge.
Pallbearers will be Terry Terrill, Daniel Kleveland, Chad Kleveland, Michael Sutton, Brett Sutton and Zachary Mansell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Williams, Ernie Northrup and Bert Mishler.
Interment will be in the Deshler City Cemetery. Memorials are directed to Region V Services in Fairbury, Nebraska. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of the arrangements.
