Laura Siebe Gardner was born October 9, 1918 to Charles and Anna Siebe in Jefferson County. She died at age 95 on December 24, 2013 in Fairbury, Ne.
She attended grade school at Dist.
17 and Dist. 49 and graduated from the Fairbury High School in 1936. She was baptized and confirmed at the Peace Lutheran Church, North of Jansen.
She was married to Elmer Gardner on January 19, 1941. She lived most of her life in Fairbury except for 10 years living in Holdredge, Nebraska where they managed the Polly Shoe Store. She worked most of her life as a sales person. In 1957 she and her husband moved back to Fairbury where they had the Polly Shoe Store until she sold it in 1980.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church. She was also a member of Eastern Star – Vasht Capter 68, and Magdalene Circle at the church, and a member of the Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include daughter Carol Ann Davenport and Husband Kent of Lincoln, Ne., Son Michael and Wife Kathy of Norfolk, NE., Grandchildren, Cory and Christy Davenport and Micah and Caleb Gardener. Sister-in-law; Beverly Korte and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents., husband., grandson, Kevin Davenport, Brothers, Lawrence and Harvey Siebe, Delbert Korte. Sisters; Martha Florell, Ella Quigley, Ida Gear and Hulda Cizek.
Services will be Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury, Ne. with Pastor Warren Schoming officiating. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
