Laurel “June” Troxel, 69, of Fairbury Nebraska, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Heritage Care Center in Fairbury. She was born June 11, 1947 in Fairbury to Harold and Eileen (Simpson) Cordry.
Laurel (known mostly as “June”) worked in housekeeping and laundry at Jefferson Community Health Center until she retired in 2014.
She loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, bingo, gambling, Husker football, and computer games. She also cared deeply for her dogs and cats.
In December 2016, she was diagnosed with a very rare disease, which led to muscle loss and weakness. She fought an incredible battle against this disease, and always remained hopeful.
She is preceded in death by her father Harold “Bill” Cordry, her mother Eileen Cordry, brothers Jerry, Harlan and Dennis, sister Mildred Zimmer, and son Christopher Troxel.
She is survived by brothers Bill Cordry of Fairbury, Forrest “Butch” Cordry & wife Sheila of Beatrice, sister Lois Ziemann & husband Randy of Western, sisters-in-law Beverly Cordry of Blue Springs and Bonnie Preston of Fairbury, daughter Tamie Gragg & fiancé Gregory Ring of Lincoln, sons Jerry Troxel Jr. & fiancé Dawn Stanton of Fairbury, Scott Troxel & wife Dara also of Fairbury, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren & numerous nieces and nephews.
Saturday, March 25th, 2017 there will be a graveside service at Enosdale Cemetery, outside Morrowville, KS at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon at the Burkley Family Center on 5th & E Street in Fairbury. Memorials will go to Family’s Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
