Leota Eugene Wallman, 89 of Diller, passed away September 19, 2019

at her home near Harbine. She was born December 14, 1929, near Plymouth, NE to Wm and Lydia Grabowski. She had an older brother, Vernon Grabowski and sister, Elaine (Bangert). She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on January 6, 1930. She grew up and attended Zion Parochial School near Harbine. On April 18, 1943 she was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She graduated with honors from Diller High School on May 15, 1947. Following high school, she taught in the Harbine public elementary school for two years. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Lentz Motors in Beatrice, NE. She was united in marriage to John A. Wallman on May 22, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church near Harbine, NE, where they were lifetime members. This union was blessed with a son, Darrell and daughter, Janet. Together they started and developed a dairy farm near Harbine. Leota was a hard worker and a very caring person. Besides raising her children and running a household, she was helping in the fields and milking cows fulltime. In her earlier years she was also active in a local Ladies Extension club, the Lutheran Womens Missionary League and volunteered regularly at the Zion Braille Center. She enjoyed cooking, reading and keeping current on local, state and national events. Her family was her pride and joy. Leota especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Leota is preceded in death by her parents, Wm and Lydia; brother, Vernon;

sister, Elaine; husband, John.

The surviving family includes: son, Darrell Wallman and wife Wanda; daughter, Dr. Janet Winter and husband Dr. Larry; grandsons, Dr. Jonathan Winter and wife Dr. Emily; Shane Winter and wife Carly; great grandchildren, Delilah, Mae, Pippa, Presley and Lawson Winter, all of Fairbury, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held September 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church near Harbine. Memorials will go to Family's Choice. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
