Leta Hand Higel, 98, died on November 24 at Gardenside Nursing Home in Fairbury, Nebraska.

Leta was born on August 09, 1915 to Phillip and Margaret (Cummings) Yager of Morrowville, Kansas.

Leta worked at the Lynch Clinic until it closed and then worked at the Heritage Nursing home until her retirement. Leta loved to cook, play cards and attend bingo. She treasured the times spent with family and her friends and wanted them to be told thank you for all the love and kindness shown to her over the years.

Survivors are her son Timothy Hand, daughter Sheila (Tom) Bodkin, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 3 step children and step grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands James Hand, and Melvin Higel, son Larry Hand, her brother Herman Yager and sisters Mildred Barnes, Viola Elder, Edith Materi, Elsie Kranszler and Ruby Spence.

At Leta's request there will be no funeral. A memorial will be held at a later date for the family. Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church in Fairbury or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
