Lloyd "Bud" Jones

October 11, 1917 — March 31, 2013

Lloyd “Bud” William Jones, 95, Fairbury, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Gardenside Long-Term Care Facility. He was born October 11, 1917 at rural Endicott, NE.

He attended school in Washington, KS where he completed 8th grade. He then stayed on the family farm to help his father farm. He married Margaret Barber on April 13, 1939 and to that marriage 2 daughters were born. He farmed in the rural Steele City, Endicott, and Diller areas until 1987. He also had various other jobs throughout his life that he enjoyed such as running after his grandchildren’s every need, hauling sugar beets in Wyoming after he was first married, driving the school bus for Diller Public Schools, and driving the hide truck for Roelf’s Trucking. He would say that his greatest blessings in life were being married to his wife Margaret for 69 years before her passing in 2008 and watching his children and grandchildren grow and prosper over the years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son-in-laws Bernd Hamel of Diller and James Lyons of rural Harbine; 6 grandchildren; Becky (Hamel) Penner and special friend Regan of Arthur, Janet (Lyons)Cook and husband Robert of Superior, Brian Hamel and wife Sherri of Beatrice, Bernd Hamel and wife Amy of Diller, James Lyons and wife Lori of Lusk, WY, and Jaimee Lyons and special friend Mark of Filley; 12 great grandchildren; Joshua Penner of Sutherland, Amanda Hebbert of Whitman, Katie Penner of Kearney, Tanner Krajnik of Lincoln, Andrew and Dylan Hamel of Diller, Kyle and Eric Hamel of Beatrice, Kaedyn Cook of Superior, and Mackenzie, Maci and Makyla Lyons of Lusk, WY; 3 great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Besides these, a host of relatives and friends that mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Minnie (James) Jones; wife Margaret Jones; daughter Barbara Hamel; daughter June Lyons; sister Mary Gausman, and brother Harold Jones.

Graveside Services and internment will be held Friday, April 19 2013 at 4PM at Prairie Home Cemetery, Diller, NE. Memorial may be give to family choice.
