Loleta Nolte, died at the age of 90, April 24, 2014. Loleta Hummel Nolte, the oldest daughter of Erwin and Wilma Ruhnke Hummel, was born August 29, 1923 near Fairbury, Nebraska. Loleta was baptized on September 23, 1923 by Rev. A. G. Guelker, and confirmed by Rev. O.R. Heinitz on June 21, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran, Daykin, Nebraska. She attended country school in Jefferson County and graduated from Fairbury High School with the class of 1940. Before her marriage she worked for the Fairbury Journal and Dr. Ed Ackerman.
On September 20, 1946, she married Emmett Nolte at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. O.R. Heinitz. They made their home for 11 years on a farm near Tobias, Nebraska. They belonged to Zion Lutheran Church of Tobias. Loleta taught Sunday School for a number of years there. They then moved to a farm north of Fairbury, NE in 1957, and transferred their church membership to Immanuel Lutheran Church near Daykin, NE, where she once again taught Sunday School. In 1985 they moved to Fairbury, NE, and transferred their church membership to Grace Lutheran Church.
She leaves behind two children, Bruce Nolte and his wife, Lila, of rural Fairbury, and Belva Winters and her husband, Walt, of St. Louis, MO. She is survived by five grandchildren: Wendy Graff, Jodi Hevelon, Shawn Nolte, Jay Winters, and Jesse Winters, and 9 great grandchildren. Her one sister, Bonnie Workman, resides in Beatrice with her husband, Lawrence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Nolte; and her parents.
Services will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury, with Pastor Charles Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Cemetery. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of the arrangements.
