Lonnie L. Schwisow, 69, of Western passed away on July 28, 2015. He was born in Fairbury, Nebraska on March 8, 1946 to August and Martha Schwisow. Lonnie was a teacher in the Meridian Public School system for 40 years. He taught Special Education, Government and coached many students in track and basketball. He loved helping his student athletes achieve State track eligibility. Another highlight was taking his Girls Varsity basketball team to State. He also worked for Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Iowa. He worked for them for over 30 years.
He and his wife Bobbe enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time working in their yard. Lonnie served on many Church, Community, and School positions. He served on the Western Public School Board. He and his wife served as co-chairman of the Western Community Club for many years. He served on the Western Village Board. Lonnie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and has served as an Elder, Secretary, and on Stewardship and Nominating Committees.
Lonnie was honored by the Nebraska Coaches Association in 2002. He and his wife served as Grand Marshalls of the Western Old Settlers’ Picnic in 2009.
Survivors include: his wife of 47 years Bobbe (Mosley) of Western, Daughter: Alisa Pesek and husband Mitch of Swanton, Sons Aaron and wife Amy (Ernesti) of Omaha, Adam and wife Kady (Suydan) of Lincoln. Five grandchildren – T.J., Hailey, Hannah, Conner, and Bradleigh Schwisow. Sisters: Karen Schwisow of Fairbury, Kathy (Bob) Steinkamp of Beatrice, Brother: Myron (Marion) Schwisow of Fairbury, Sister in law: Leslie and husband Joe Wittgren of Lincoln, Mother in law: Margaret Mosley of Lincoln, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his Parents: August and Martha Schwisow and Father in law: Lester Mosley.
