Loren Kenneth Duensing, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the Heritage Care Center surrounded by family who loved him dearly. He was 89 years young. Born on April 10, 1932, In Lanham, Nebraska, first child to Martin & Mary (Lampe) Duensing.
He graduated from High School in Fairbury in 1950. After graduation he started employment with the Dept. of Roads and Irrigation of the State of Nebraska, with 30 years of service. On June 29, 1952, he married Irene Fiser of Mahaska, KS. In May of 1953, he joined the Army, was assigned as an Airframe Mechanic on Military Helicopters. Om <au. 1955, he was Honorably Discharged, earning the National Defense Service Medal. In 1958, they bought their home south of town and lived there for 62 years. In 1960 and 1961, they were blessed with two children, Kay Lynne & Kenneth Dean Duensing. After serving 30 years on the Highway Dept., Loren & Irene bought the Plamor Lanes, owned, and operated for 20 plus years. It was the best bowling center around, they had full leagues and were always busy. Loren’s hobbies were fishing, camping, hunting sports, and he loved tinkering in his garage. He was always making or fixing something for someone. His sense of humor was one of a kind. He is going to be missed dearly!
Loren is survived by his wife, Irene of 69 years, daughter Kay Lynn (Duensing) Johnson of Springfield, MO, sister Glenda Junker of Fairbury, 4 grandchildren, Katie Graves & Andy Spargur of South Dakota, Erin Hous & Daniel Duensing of Lincoln, NE, 5 great-grandchildren James, Sofia & Harper (Katie’s) Xander & Asa (Andy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Keith Duensing, son Kenneth Dean Duensing, In-laws Frank & Emma Fiser, Robert Fiser, Phil Kennedy and Darrell Junker, Aunts, Uncles & Cousins.
Graveside service was held on May 18, 2022 at the Fairbury Cemetery, with Military Honors. Donations in Loren’s name please donate to Tunnels to Towers.org. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
