Loren D. Duis

Loren Dean Duis passed from this life into the Lords heavenly home on March 15, 2022, at Heritage Care Center at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 20 days.

Loren was born to William and Louise (Maatsch) Duis on November 22, 1936.  He was baptized in St. John Lutheran Church, Lanham, KS.

He attended Reynolds Schools graduating in 1954.  After graduation, he worked for farmers in the area.

In 1957 he married Esther Rogge.  He entered the Army in 1961, receiving awards of honor, discharged in 1969.  He got his CDL to drive trucks in 1987.  Esther passed from this life in 1996.  He continued driving trucks. He remarried Mary Ellen Dickey in 1998 and she passed away in 2017.  He continued driving for several companies in the area until his health forced him to retire in 2017.  His church and family were very important, as was his country.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Louise (Maatsch) Duis, Father William & stepmother Martha (Klocke) Duis, brother Everett Duis, brother-in-law Frank Moger, niece Marsha Duis Lease, stepson Mark Dickey.

Survived by sisters Della Mae Moger of Denver, CO, Donnetta Bertwell & husband Larry of Lincoln, brother Dale Duis and wife Harlana of Fairbury, half-sister Carolyn Hanson, stepson Alan Dickey and wife Shirley and step-grandchildren of Houston, TX.

Services will be Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 11:00 at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home with Lana Likens officiating.  Memorials will go to Rose Creek Cemetery or Fairbury VFW.  Burial will be in Rose Creek Cemetery - Reynolds, NE. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
