Lorna Louise Adam

Lorna Louise Adam was born May 14, 1932, on the family farm near Hanover, KS.  The daughter of Wilhelm & Louise (Lohse) Klipp.

Lorna was baptized into the Christian faith on May 29, 1932, at Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor W. Mahler.  Her sponsors were Adolphine Klipp, Dorothea Lohse and Maria Munstermann. On April 14, 1946, Lorna confessed her Christian faith in the Rite of Confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Theo Kauffeld.  Her confirmation verse was - I Cor. 6:20 – Ye are bought with a price; therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit which are Gods.

On May 16, 1954, Lorna was united in marriage to Harlan H. Adam at Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor Theo Kauffeld and they made their home on the Adam farm near Odell, NE.

Lorna attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from the 8 ^th grade.  Then she worked for various families in the Hanover area until Dr. C.E. and Irene Rice asked her dad if she could come and work for them at the Rice Hospital, which she did from 1950 to 1954.  Those were 4 years she truly enjoyed.  She always said she had many nursing responsibilities without any formal nurse’s training.

Lorna was a home maker and helped her husband on the family farm.  She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Odell.  She was active in their Ladies Aid and LWML group. She enjoyed volunteering for the Lutheran Braille workers, Mercy Meals and working on quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Lorna is survived by her children - daughter Katherine and son Wayne and special friend Danielle and her grandson Andrew and his wife Rachel, all of Odell, NE.  Lorna was the oldest of 7 children. She is survived by her 3 youngest siblings – Vera and husband Delmar Uffman of Linn, KS, Norbert and wife Arlyce Klipp and Loma Turk all of Hanover, KS, also by her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan in 2008, her daughter-in-law Teresa Adam in 2013, her parents, sisters and their spouses, Paula (Edwin) Meyer, Bernice (Arthur) Meyer, Darlene (Norman) Scheele and brother-in-law Charles Turk.

She received her gift of eternal life in the glory of Heaven on April 16, 2023, at Beatrice Health and Rehab.

Services will be Friday, April 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Odell with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating. On Thursday from 1 – 8 you may view and sign her book at the Vance-Gerdes Funeral Home in Odell.  Memorials will go to Family’s Choice.
