Lorna I. Riggert

Lorna Irene Riggert passed away early Sunday morning, February 2, 2014 at the age of 87 years. She was currently residing at the Cambridge Place in Marysville, Kansas.

Lorna was born August 14, 1926 on a farm southeast of Odell, Nebraska to Henry and Hulda (Schotte) Duensing. She attended school and church at Bethlehem in rural Bremen, Kansas. She was also baptized, confirmed, and married there. She was joined in marriage to Erwin F. Riggert on November 5, 1948. They moved to Odell where she became a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. As a member she taught Sunday school and participated in LWML.

Lorna and Erwin were blessed with three children; Marlene, Michael, and Ronald. Lorna was a homemaker until the passing of her husband in 1966. After that she held various jobs taking care of people both young and old. The last job before retiring in 1988 was a housekeeper for the Beatrice State Developmental Center. Retirement was spent taking care of her beloved grandchildren.

Lorna is survived by her two sons; Michael (Kristine) Riggert of Odell, Nebraska and Ronald Riggert of Lavergne, Tennessee. Lorna was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Melvin (Arlene) Duensing of Marysville, Kansas; sisters Leona (Vern) Tjaden of Oketo, Kansas and Verneda (Gerald) Gerdes of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters-in-law Marcine Duensing and Verna Riggert of Marysville, Kansas and Mildred Lauterbach of Greeley, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband Erwin, daughter and son-in-law Marlene and Richard Jaszkowiak, brother Arlin Duensing, brothers-in-law Helmuth, Lawrence, Marvin, and Clarence Riggert, and sister-in-law Delora Manley.

Funeral services for Lorna will be held Thursday, February 6 at 11:00 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Odell, Nebraska. Cremation will take place after the funeral with internment at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the funeral home in Odell with family greeting from 6:30-8:00. Memorials to the family's choice.
